| Title: | Fake Vietnamese Food a Real Letdown |
| Review: | Upon entering Viet Noodle Bar, I was impressed with the layout of the restaurant. You don't see too many Vietnamese places set up this way. One long communal table in the larger room with smaller tables lining the walls. That was about all that I liked about this place. It seemed like there were only two people working the lunch shift, which was a horrible because it took nearly 15 minutes to finally have someone take our order. The menu had very little resemblance to other Vietnamese joints, but I figured that it was catered more to the non-Vietnamese. I was right. I ordered the beef lemongrass rice noodle entree and I've never seen anything like it. It was decent, but being Vietnamese, it didn't resemble anything that I have eaten before. The prices here are pretty outrageous. My friend ordered a Vietnamese sandwich that looked pretty dainty, and they charge $6.75 for it. Wow. Really? They're less than $3 down in Little Saigon. Yes, I know...we're not in Little Saigon. Everything on the menu seemed like it was double the normal price. We took a c-shot, another thing that I've never heard of in my 32 years of being Vietnamese. It's a shot of sugarcane, lemon and cayenne pepper. It definitely woke me up, but I felt that I just paid $3 for a master cleanse. Overall, I wouldn't necessarily go back unless I was in the neighborhood and dying for fake Vietnamese food. |
