| Title: | FOX SPORTS GRILL |
| Review: | The highly rated Fox Sports Grill has just opened in Westlake Village, and the residents are just lapping it up watching the Dodgers and Angels. I was invited to check out the food on offer, and went in with no preconception, but left with a very negative feeling. Dining in a seperate dining area that is one of the dullest rooms I have ever been in, the experience was average at best.It was also chilly and cold, with the air conditioning unit working overtime. The "intense training program " that the keen servers had taken clearly needs revamping. Way too chatty, forgetting to bring water, bringing out dishes with no idea of what table had ordered them, and serving lukewarm coffee after a 20 minute wait was just some examples. As for the food, best stick with the Smoked Chicken Wings($8.95) that were nice and spicy, and suitably plump. The Blue Cheese Chips($10.95) were way too greasy, and the Grilled Chicken Strawberry Salad($12.95)was a bizarre mixture of chicken, fruit, cheese etc that did not work at all. I tried the Jambalaya($16.95)that was passable, but clearly the chef was not a New Orleans native judging by the end result. The Turkey Burger($9.95)was actually sent back by one of the other food writers on hand, although my guest struggled through it admirably. It is probably best to stick to the drinks and sports available in the large main room, but if you have to eat, choose your selections carefully. The Grilled Salmon and Pizza are probably OK,I certainly hope so for the citizens of Westlake Village. |
