In my years of driven past this joint, they always seem to be closed. I thought it was an abandoned house. But one fine mid morning, on my way to venice, i passed Benice again. And this time, i saw people going in. i thought: A secret surf club? Underground surfers meeting spot? Curious George that I am, i went in anyway. Aaahh, so its a breakfast/ brunch/ lunch spot. They only open from 7 am (i think) till 2:30-3 pm. Yep, small window to catch food here, but thats what i love about places like this. It has integrity. it stands on its principle: "We are a breakfast and early lunch joint. You want our food, come early. We only want to work till 3 and enjoy the rest of the beautiful California weather." Ok i might have put that in their mouths, but i felt like it carries a little truth? Food: Omelette was good. Fluffy and not stingy on the ingredients. Side of hash comes in pretty big portion. I am not sure if their food is organic, But half the menu seems to be. Nothing fancy, as far as breakfast goes, but you will leave solidly happy and full. You do need a little patience eating here though. They seem to be short-staffed and when it gets crowded, refills come slower. And if you sit outside, tougher luck.
