| Title: | An Out of Country Experience |
| Review: | Koreatown always seems to transport you thousands of miles away, but at The Flaming Clam Grill, I truly felt like a tourist. My boyfriend and I started this whole adventure off as ignorant "foreigners." Once we finally found the place, we drove the wrong way down a one way street straight into the Christmas light decorated parking lot/courtyard. The very polite valet was thankfully still willing to take our car. Once inside, we were greeted by a very pretty woman wearing one wool glove who spoke little English but showed us to a table (we observed later that the glove was for handling the hot shells on the grill and all the waitstaff had them). We ordered the "Small" dish (that serves AT LEAST 3 people) along with 2 large Hite beers with a bottle of Soju. What followed was about 10 courses of food, including: salad, rice porridge, vegetable pancake, tempura potato, noodles, fried rice and SHELLFISH, tons of shellfish. The staff was incredibly friendly and we had a couple entertaining broken English conversations with them. It was an amazing evening! Plus, looking for an ATM for the valet after dinner, we stumbled upon a chic upstairs bar in that same courtyard. We'll definitely be back! |
