Review Title: Singapore Banana Leaf, Great Singapore and Malaysian Flavors!
Reviewed By: Felicia
The family-owned Singapore's Banana Leaf is located in the Farmers Market at L.A.'s famed shopping locale, The Grove. Food is infused with bold flavors of the authentic Singaporean, Indonesian and Malaysian cuisine, including spins on fried rice and noodle dishes, chicken and beef satay, and salads.
The home-style cuisine is pleasantly plated. Rojak salad, a dizzying, delectable melange of fresh fruit, crisp vegetables and fried tofu tossed in a heavenly spicy peanut-tamarind dressing, is not to be missed. Roti paratha (grilled flatbread) comes with a rich and satisfying curry-based dipping sauce. The slow-roasted spicy beef or chicken rendang curries positively burst with coconut, ginger and chili flavors.
Fresh-squeezed limeade or pineapple juice makes for a cooling complement to many of the menu's spicy dishes, as does a selection of canned juices imported from Indonesia.
